Chace - my first Baby

As most of you know, I do not have any biological children and Jeff and I are unable to have biological children so we are growing our family through adoption. It is the journey God has led us to.

However, I have been blessed to have several cousins that have shared their children with me! Melinda and her husband Aaron were the first to allow me to share in Chace's life.

Chace was my first baby! I could not wait for him to arrive and the day he was born I got left at work while everyone else went made the almost 3 hours drive to meet him! I was LIVID! It was several weeks until Melinda brought him to see us for the first time and I was in love! It wasn't long before I talked her into letting me come and get him to spend the long weekend with me. I had a 4 day weekend every 6 weeks because of my shift at work and those soon turned into Chace's weekends. We would meet half way on Thursday night and I would bring him back to my house and keep him until Melinda and Aaron could get here on Saturday or I took him home. We had so much fun! Chace has always been funny, independent, sweet, and loving. Those first few years were wonderful! I still wonder what we did for entertainment before he came along! As he grew up and life changed for all of us I did not get to see him as often. He is still a wonderful young man! A freshman in college now! WOW - time flies! I still love to see him if it is only for a few minutes at an Ole Miss game. This year my very first birthday wish came from Chace in the form of a text message! It just made my day! What a sweetie that still knows how to steal my heart (or maybe my Ole Miss tickets)!

Some of the things about Chace I will never forget:
1. Krispy Kreme donuts
2. Eating Bikits and Hausage - otherwise known as biscuits and sausage
3. Chace's truck stop
4. The Lunch Lady Song
5. Ole Miss Football at the Liberty Bowl - I thought we were going to get throw out of the stadium
6. The beautiful rug he had to have for his bedroom when he was about 2 years old
7. Hissie the rat
8. Pearlie the dog
9. his pacifier (paci) that Ace the dog next door got
10. Beal Street and BBQ on Saturday night - even when he was young he loved the nightlife

Thank you Melinda and Aaron for sharing your baby with me! He is a joy and a blessing! And most of all, thank you Chace for allowing me to be apart of your life! It has been a wonderful adventure!

I love you all!
